DERRICK TRAMMELL, LPCC-S
BACKGROUND
Derrick Trammell is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Clinical Supervisor (LPCC-S) and was trained at the University of Kentucky. Derrick has over 10 years of experience where he combines his clinical counseling expertise with his business knowledge to offer clients a unique perspective of problem solving. He is uniquely qualified to treat co-occurring mental health disorders and addiction. In addition, he has extensive experience working in the area of children and adolescent's mental health.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Prior to private practice, Derrick worked in business environments in Cincinnati and Los Angeles as an Executive Recruiter and Consultant. He has worked extensively with individuals at a variety of business levels offering counseling services on the type of job or career based on current market conditions and the individual’s values, and abilities. He was a personal coach as he would advise individuals on how to strengthen resumes and improve interviewing techniques.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Derrick has been the Clinical Director of the Co-Occurring Residential and Outpatient Programs at Transitions, Inc. and Clinical/Operations Director of the Community-Based Therapy Program at Holly Hill Children’s Services. He has provided therapy services in a variety of inpatient and outpatient including residential, in-home, in-office, school-based settings. Derrick currently owns the counseling center called FamilyCare Counseling Solutions, LLC and is serving as the President and Clinical Supervisor. The type of services provided are individual and family counseling, group counseling, targeted case management, and substance use treatment.

Derrick is an interactive, client-centered therapist. His therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. He integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each individual and family to help them build on their strengths and attain personal growth.

He uses several types of therapy but generally tends to subscribe to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, strength-based, and solution focused techniques to address a variety of mental health and substance abuse.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Derrick obtained his Masters in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Kentucky and undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Communication Studies. In addition to being a prominent Therapist in the Northern Kentucky area, Derrick has presented at state conferences and to general audiences speaking on a variety of mental health topics and has a publication in the Kentucky Counseling Newsletter addressing Ethical Concerns with Counselors when working with Managed Care Organizations.
